Pastor Bio

Rev. Angie Sherer has been serving under appointment in the West Ohio Conference since 2002.  She has been pastoring in Whitehall for the past five years where she helped her congregation realize their gifts and call to serve in the community beyond the church walls.  Under her leadership, Whitehall UMC started numerous outreach ministries that feed neighbors and nurture relationships throughout the community.  She helped the faith family at Whitehall recover their identity as a church and developed their gifts for service, becoming a vital center for life and ministry together in the neighborhood.

Prior to Whitehall, Pastor Angie served at New Zion UMC, and the Chatham UM Circuit (Chatham, Liberty, and St. Louisville UMCs). Before being appointed clergy, she was the Student Associate at New Life UMC in the Short North for two years and also served as a student chaplain for the Ohio Department of Mental Health at one of their psychiatric hospitals.

During college and seminary, Angie served on numerous mission trips as a volunteer and a leader.  Angie received her undergraduate degree from Capital University in 1997.  She received her Master of Divinity from Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 2002 and her Master of Theological Studies in 2003.  Pastor Angie was ordained a Full Elder at Annual Conference in 2007—a few weeks before delivering Abigail!

Angie and Jason were married in their hometown of Marion, Ohio in August of 2000. Aidan was born in November 2004 and Abigail was born in July 2007.

Jason Sherer is currently serving as a Battery Commander of a National Guard Field Artillery unit in Columbus. He has been in the Army for over 20 years, of which over 14 years were as an enlisted Soldier in the US Army Reserves. He also works at Nationwide, where he has been in roles increasing in levels of responsibility within the IT organization. He was graduated from The Ohio State University with undergrad degrees in both Psychology and Philosophy. Jason likes to attempt to golf (poorly), dabble in photography, and take his family to the Columbus Crew games, where they are season ticket holders.
